Here is a little bit of information about who and what I am.
I’m over 50, I taught primary school for a quarter of a century as well as having many othe small jobs before I started teaching.
I have several qualifications from tertiary institutions but my most important qualification is my self taught knowledge base. I continue to challenge myself by trying new things.
My interests:
Fishing, sailing my yacht, photography, playing woodwind and brass, technology and computers.
Musical Interests:
From Gregorian chants to classical, rock and roll and jazz. I’m not fussed on high opera or twangy sad country and western.
Films that I consider are important:
In my opinion “Lawrence of Arabia” (1962) with Peter O’Toole is one of the best movies ever made. I’m also old enough to say tha I saw Star Wars, Superman &; The Exorcist on their opening nights in Australia and thoroughly enjoyed all the Bruce Lee movies as they came out at the Ryde Drive In.
Television that I watch using my Mac and EyeTV:
I’m currently into Heroes, NCIS, Numb3rs, House, Mythbusters, Top Gear (UKTV), Torchwood, Ghost Squad (UKTV) and of course Dr Who -Yes I did see the first episode An Unearthly Child in about 1963-64 http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0562828/. I use the IMDB a LOT!
Books:
“Stranger in a Strange land” and anything else by Robert A Heinlein – (I think I’ve read them all – when Heinlein died I checked and I think he had about 80! books in print at that stage), also A. E. van Vogt, Frank Herbert, Douglas Adams, Terry Tratchett. At the moment most of my reading is on line or APC Magazine http://apcmag.com/node/
To find a list of sites I “Claim” try my ClaimID page.
Just for fun, and to joke with my kids (2 of them) I started a MySpace page.
